About Our Mission

Creating transparent accountability for yoga teachers while honoring the sacred teachings of this ancient practice

    Our Mission

The Yoga Review exists to uphold the integrity of yoga teaching by providing a platform where students can share their experiences honestly and teachers can demonstrate their commitment to dharmic practice. We believe that transparency, held with compassion, serves the highest good of all.

    The Challenge

Yoga spaces have historically operated with little accountability. When harm occurs—whether through inappropriate boundaries, misuse of power, or practices disconnected from yogic ethics—students often have nowhere to turn. The sacred student-teacher relationship can become exploitative when there is no transparency.

Without a system for honest feedback, harmful patterns continue unchecked, and students carry the burden of silence. Meanwhile, ethical teachers who embody the teachings have no way to distinguish themselves from those who do not.

    The Solution

This platform combines transparency with compassion. Students can share their experiences anonymously if needed, protected from retaliation. Teachers can respond to feedback, demonstrating accountability and growth. Every review is moderated to ensure dharmic integrity while allowing truth to be spoken.

By rating teachers across the five ethical foundations of yoga, we create a system that honors the tradition while meeting modern needs for safety and accountability.

    Philosophical Foundation

A review system aligned with the yamas and niyamas ensures that asana practice is not disembodied from its philosophical core. This helps ensure students and teachers' fullest growth while protecting the integrity of the path of Yoga.

    The Five Ethical Foundations

    Ahimsa (Non-Harming)

Physical, emotional, and energetic safety in all interactions

    Satya (Truthfulness)

Honesty, integrity, and authenticity in teaching and relationships

    Asteya (Non-Stealing)

Respect for boundaries, time, autonomy, and personal agency

    Brahmacharya (Right Use of Energy)

Appropriate professional boundaries and ethical conduct

    Aparigraha (Non-Possessiveness)

Non-exploitative relationships, no guru worship dynamics, freedom from attachment

    Why This Matters

This platform was born from a deep commitment to protecting students while honoring the transformative potential of authentic yoga teaching. After witnessing and experiencing the ways that lack of accountability can perpetuate harm in yoga spaces, it became clear that the community needed a tool for truth-telling that also leaves space for growth and redemption.

Yoga teaches us that light and shadow coexist, that awareness is the first step toward transformation. This platform is an offering in service of that awareness—for students finding their voices, for teachers committed to integrity, and for the preservation of yoga's sacred teachings.

    Our Commitment

    To Students

Your voice matters. Your safety matters. Your truth will be heard and protected.

    To Ethical Teachers

Your integrity will shine through. Accountability is an act of dharma, not punishment.

    To Yoga's Integrity

We honor the tradition by ensuring its teachings are embodied in action, not just words.
